Bootsequences

To test the KunaiGC Features you can look at the boot process shown in the picture above. They are described in more detail below.

Debugging Mode

By hold the D-Pad down on startup you'll get the debugging information as shown below:

At this moment you know, that the KunaiGC is soldered correctly and works as it should.

Boot directly into Swiss

Hold the Start-button on startup and you boot directly into an onboard Swiss-Version without any SD-Card needed.

Boot directly into GBI (Game Boy Interface)

Hold the X-button on startup and you boot directly into an onboard GBI-Version without any SD-Card needed. This only works with KunaiLoader version 1.1 or higher and you need to upload the gbi.dol to the internal flash first. Look at Update the KunaiGC, how to do that.

Boot Default

At startup, hold down the Z key to launch KunaiMenu. Here you can specify the default start behavior. You can choose between booting from the SD card, the internal swiss or the internal GBI (Game Boy Interface). The assignment of Start or X to start internal Swiss/GBI is independent of this.

This only works with KunaiLoader version 1.1 or higher. How to update the firmware is described in detail on the Updating page: Update the KunaiGC.

Original and custom IPL

The KunaiGC starts the original IPL by default. But if you rename any dol-file you want to ipl.dol and place it in the folder "KUNAIGC" on your SD-Card, the KunaiGC will boot automatically this program. If you want to use Cubeboot just rename your ipl.dol into boot.dol and place the customized cubeboot.dol into the KUNAIGC folder and rename it to ipl.dol.

Remapping the buttons

Almost every button can be remapped to boot into an other program. Just rename the designated dol-files into one of the following and press its button on startup. Just place the dol-files into the root of your SD-Card. The possible dol-files are:

  • a.dol
  • b.dol
  • y.dol
  • left.dol
  • right.dol
  • up.dol

Using the Ingame-Reset (igr) feature from Swiss

To use the igr-feature from swiss, activate it in swiss Ingame-Reset: igr.dol and place the igr.dol from the release into the root of your SD-card.
